Swampoodle was the name given to a rough and tumble neighborhood just north of Capitol Hill. It was populated with Irish immigrants fleeing the great potato famine and had a reputation as being both a bit dangerous and seedy. Today the area is largely offices.
In addition to being fun to say – “Swampoodle…,” we’re pretty enamoured with the symbolism of the name. Having worked on Capitol Hill or as part of the advocacy establishment in DC, your blog’s authors sit in a ring-side seat here in DC, part of the wonderful democratic process that is often compared to sausage making and takes place in a former swamp.
Like everyone else, we're pretty much tired of watching the so-called news and shouting at the vacuous drivel of [insert talking head name here], they are all the same. So, instead, we'll write down our thoughts, put them in this virtual glass bottle and throw them in the blog-sea.
Enjoy!
